O Canada

This was Jam's homework one day recently: Trace a Canadian flag and colour it correctly. You all know how she's always really liked singing "O Canada" and waving her flag so she thought this was a great project. The only help I gave her was in steadying the flag while she was tracing around it.

Bye bye crib, Hello bed

Well, the time has come to let Honey out of the crib and into her own little bed. She has really enjoyed being able to get herself out to go potty in the mornings. She also enjoys being able to come and ask me if it's morning yet. I'm enjoying her not having to wake Jam up to ask her if it's morning even if that means she has to wake me up. We're working on, "If there's a 7 on the front of the clock it's time to get up." But sometimes there's a 7 on the otherside so it might be morning. :)

Summer Vacation Part One--- Canada Day

O CANADA...
Here we are in Ottawa for Canada Day. One of the highlights for the girls was the trip to Parliment Hill by "sippy bus" as Heidi said. (city bus)Heidi really liked a clown we saw and asked to go closer to see him. He made her a balloon dog. Unfortunately the dog didn't make it through the whole day and really startled a policeman (and us) when he popped.

Changing the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
We spent the day with Grampa & Gramma Easton and Aunt Bee.
It was a hot sunny day and there were thousands of people around but we still had fun. I'd do it again :)

Wesley Walk-a-thon

Bruce likes to play with the colours of pictures to see the different effects he can make.
Here's one example. Here's Honey having her lunch after the walk.
And Jam intent on a bag of chips. She'd been looking just a second before. Ah well, still cute :)

Here are the registration tables at the first of the day. I'm talking to Jam's teacher Mrs. Wu.

Halfway through our first lap...
Here's another one where Bruce is playing with the colours. The girls were not sure what to make of the blue "O Canada Flag" I think they prefer red.
Honey rode like this a lot of the second lap but RAN for at least half a km too. Jam spent a lot of the second lap in the stroller, but had her run too as you'll see in the video.

It was a gorgeous day. Nice and sunny but a great breeze in the shade. Our goal was to complete 2 full laps (5 of the 10 km) and we did it. The school raised about $27000 this year.

Last weekend was a busy one... Grampa's birthday was one of the special events.

The girls and Mommy on Mother's Day.
Mom, Bee & I on our special days...Mother's Day & Bee's birthday :)

Saturday we played outside lots and lots.

Honey on the swing.

One of my favourite sounds is singing frogs so Bruce made this video of what it sounded like when we arrrived Friday night.

Here's Grampa playing with Jam on the swing.

Happy Birthday to Jam

The big day started about 6:45 with some presents :) then we all went off to school.
Jam loves M&Ms so we decided on an M cake for this year.
:) Think she liked it? Both girls thought we shouldn't cut it... it might hurt it :)
5 Years old!!! What a big kid :)
Talking to one of her many well wishers :)

Take a look at JAM's school work today :)

This was her homework this afternoon. She did it all by herself!! Great job, Girlie!!

Wow it's April already!?! Time for a couple more pics

Here's Honey enjoying some dress up clothes and playing food.

A lady at church gave the girls teddy bears on Easter Sunday. Here's Jam with her new yellow bear. She now sleeps with him every night. That makes 6 stuffed guys in the bed... good thing they're not all this size :)

A March Break Video

Here are the girls splashing in a puddle :) Eventually they were pretty soaked and filthy but it was lots and lots of fun. It felt like a spring day. The next few days were a lot colder and everything refroze but this nice day gave us hope that spring really was on its way. :)

March Break Pictures

Well, after loading these pictures I realized I can't rearrange the order after they're here so just note the bottom 5 pics occur first and this one at the top is actually the last. Live and learn eh :)

There was a field near Grammie and Grampie's house that had cabbages in it last summer. For the last while it has been the feeding ground to many deer each evening. The night we went to see them I counted about 100!!Here's Roscoe peeking out around Grampie's leg.

We celebrated Grampie's birthday while we were there which meant a chance to put on aprons and stir and stir while we made his cake.
Here's Jam working away...
...and Honey taking a turn with the whisk.
Grampie seemed pretty pleased with the end result. Jam did the sprinkes and Honey put on the candles.

This is in the car on the way down... I guess Jam and I were in the washroom so Daddy and Honey had a chance to play with the camera. :) Like father like daughter :)
Jam spent hours writing the letters of her name and numbers 1, 2, 3 in her little book and a few H's for Honey's name.
Here's Jam and Grampie the first morning we were there. Honey'd been up on his lap a few seconds before too but couldn't stick around for a picture.

We (yes, all 4 of us) had lots of fun playing in the big puddles!!

Playing ball with Gigi

I couldn't decide which of these to post so I put them both up for you. The first captures the great giggles and in the second Gigi (the doll) actually gets to throw the ball :) Enjoy.
