New family picture :)

Once again I've messed up the order I wanted to post the pictures in. Oh well, you'll get the idea.

This picture turned sideways for some strange reason but I still like it so I'll leave it like that. He's just a few minutes old here :)

On Thursday Jam and Honey came to visit. They are such proud big sisters. Honey keeps telling me, "I love the new baby." They're all concerned if he has the slightest little cry and love to help him by getting anything we might need to look after him.

Well, that's a few for tonight. I'll get some more up when I get a chance. We're enjoying him very very much! He's a good baby! We have been so blessed and have a lot to be thankful for!!

Getting ready for baby

The girls are getting lots of practice helping Mommy. Most of the time they are more than willing to help especially if it involves something fun like a broom and dustpan. Honey wonders what I would do without her to bend over to pick things up for me. Honestly, I suppose I'd do it myself but since she's here I take advantage of her willingness and get her to do most of my bending. Here they are sweeping up sunflower seeds they dropped during snack time. They actually only dropped a few seeds but sometimes a long broom handle can cause other problems and a small bowl of them ended up on the floor too. Just made for a lot more fun cleaning. Honey never really liked being in her own room since our move last June so it wasn't too hard to decide to move the girls in together to make room for the baby. Gramma and Grampa Easton brought us the bunk bed from their house. If you were here you'd never hear it called that though. I'm pretty sure it will always be the tunnel bed. The transition back to sharing a room has gone pretty well. May it continue!
So, baby has inherited the green room.

Today is week 37, officially called full term although the due date is still 3 weeks away. We're feeling like we're ready for this baby to arrive now that it's room has been put together. It's kind of funny that makes us feel ready since we do intend to have it sleep in our room at nights for the first little while.

Jam's 7th Bday

Hard to believe it but Jam is now 7 years old!! She thoroughly enjoyed herself on her birthday and the day afterward when we had a little party with some of her school friends. It was nice for Bruce and I to get to know a few of her friends. We had a Strawberry Shortcake theme with a character cake on Friday and a strawberry cake with strawberry cupcakes on Sat. for the party. Yes, in this picture below Jam is sitting in the highchair. We have only 5 chairs and she thought it would be fun to sit in the highchair. Honey is sitting behind her at the little table. We had the girls draw a picture on paper with fabric crayons then Bruce ironed their pictures onto a t-shirt for them. We decided this would be a fun party activity and would take the place of lootbag treats for the girls to take home. This girl is in the same gr1 class as Jam. I think this picture must represent the tallest and the shortest of their class.
Here they are working on their drawings.

This one is from Friday night.

And here are the completed cakes and cupcakes.

Thanks to everyone who called, emailed, or sent a card or gift or both. Thanks also to those of you who pray for her throughout the year.

A "One Girl" in Jesus Family :)

That's how Honey decribed her spiritual birthday to Jam. "It's my birthday. I'm still 4 but I'm a 1 girl in Jesus family."
We decided to celebrate with a cake and a gift, this necklace with a cross on it. I asked her why we would give her a cross and was pleased with her answer. "Because Jesus died on the cross, even to remember that Jesus died on the cross." Ya, as a reminder. :) I know his cross wasn't a pretty cross like this one but it still serves as a reminder. It's been an interesting year watching Jesus grow the fruit of his Spirit in her. There has definitely been evidence of growth.
Blessings on you little Honey!!

Jam's School Project

This weekend Jam was supposed to use "beautiful junk" from the recycle bin to build a boat. It had to be able to really float while holding the weight of 20 pennies. She had to choose the junk independently based on what she had learned about things that would float. We were allowed to help her put the boat together. She had her own definite ideas of how things should look and where she wanted them to go so for the most part this is truely her own work. Great job Jam!!!
Then we had to do the write up part. It was not nearly so much fun, but I found it interesting to hear her talk about what she had used and done. They had done many examples at school and she was ready to do this home project.

How's your phonetic reading?

Recently Honey has become interested in words. Real words. She wants to write real words. :) So today I suggested that instead of just writing a bunch of letters and then asking me what they said (most often nothing) perhaps she could think of a word and then write the sounds she hears when she says the word. That sounded like fun to her. Here's what she came up with. I did help with the sh sound and she thought y made the w sound at first until we looked it up in Jam's school book and she remembered that w is for Winnie the Pooh. :)

Great job Honey!!
